You are Wanted in Big Sky Country—Volunteer at Bible Camp!
David here. Welcome Readers; thanks for joining us! Today I have an Author Reflections challenge for you. The challenge is not to be, but to be more; not to take, but to take action. Want to change your life? Go to camp!
Answer that Call!
In many of my fiction/adventure novels, I make an effort to show how courageous believers are willing to serve the Lord anytime, anywhere, even spontaneously. Is this you?
I recently received a newsletter from where I served as a camp counselor as a teen. So many memories of lives impacted by Christ. And I was certainly challenged spiritually as well, though I didn’t answer God’s call with “gusto” until much later. (Click here to read about one of my memories at camp, “NW Bible Camp, an Unforgettable Adventure.”)
This particular Bible camp recently brought on a new maintenance director, Scott, who spent years in West Africa as a missionary kid. We are blessed to have such a man of God caring for the facility where so many of our youth anticipate spending weeks during their summer and winter breaks.
But even Scott and the other few on staff at the camp can’t do everything.
Soldier Up and Step Out!
At the end of the newsletter, I spotted their “WANTED” section. It was about the need for landscaping, construction, mechanical work, cleaning, and much more. Things that require volunteers. Places like NW Bible Camp, you can literally show up with a will to get your hands dirty, a heart for Christ, and they’ll put you to work!
Maybe the wilderness of the Rockies is too far to travel. There are Christian camps and facilities all over the country that need servants for even just a couple of days to give them a hand, especially gearing up for camp season. This camp is a part of Bible Centered Ministries International (BCM International); click the link to see their website. Idea: what are you doing for your next vacation?
I often challenge men in the prison ministry to live to their potential wherever God has placed the boundaries of their habitation (Acts 17:26). If men in prison are seeking out their potential, how much more should those with freedom to go anywhere, roll up their sleeves?
Take a step of faith. Visit the website above and see what you have to offer—including yourself! I have been blessed in this way. Do you have a favorite ministry where you enjoy volunteering?
See you in the field!
COMING UP: Our next Author Reflections is a unique one, “Take D.I. Telbat’s SPY TEST!”
