Hello reader friends and new subscribers! Today I have some writing research facts to share with you about my FREE novella, COIL Prequel Dark Edge, NOW available at all retailers! Dark Edge includes a few chapters that take place in India’s city of Haridwar during a festival of bathing in the Ganges River. Are you ready for crowds and muddy waters?
Kumbh Mela, the Hindu Pilgrimage
The world’s largest religious festival takes place in four of India’s cities, lasting over 55 days. Around 100 million pilgrims gather on the banks of the polluted Ganges River to receive a blessing.
If you were to join the Kumbh festival, besides the throng of humanity, you would find cows and elephants participating in the karmic journey as well.
And don’t forget about vendors selling strange foods and the spectacle of snake charmers (high on Vishnu and ganja).
Whole tent cities with jubilant people overwhelm the banks of the Ganges River during the festival. Packed buses, rickshaws, and three people to a bicycle arrive by the millions—for their dose of “positive energy” from the muddy water. Around dawn, the celebrations and cheering become contagious.
Muddy Waters of the World
A man from Mumbai recently warned a journalist that the water was so diseased that if he stepped in with a single foot, he would surely die. This seems like just the festival where the true living water of Jesus Christ needs to be offered (John 4). People are yearning for holiness. Might we guide them to drink of the Living Water from which they will never thirst again!
I pray you will have your eyes opened about India as you read the COIL Prequel Dark Edge. And as always, it’s to remind us to pray for those trapped in the contaminated muddy waters of the world.
See you in the field,
