Dear Reader Friends, thanks for joining us today for my personal post, “Through Assault to Novel: Overcoming the World.” The idea for a book can come from many sources, but the passion in a novel must come from somewhere special. Upcoming novel, Called To Gobi, was first written during my recovery after being assaulted (several years ago). My emotions were on the surface and this End Times story set in the Mongolian wilderness just flowed from me.
Good from Bad
Sometimes we are reluctant to embrace all that God designs in our lives. We refuse to believe that He is teaching us through everything. We know only good comes from God, so when we are uncomfortable, we tend to disconnect our faith when the lessons sting.
God is always trying to reveal to us that we’re not of this world. He wants us to grasp the distinction between the eternal and the temporal—and then live with our eyes on the eternal.
Overcoming the World
The Bible teaches that our outer man must be broken to allow the Spirit of God to flow from us. This breaking of the temporal shell is accomplished as God allows temporal circumstances. Yes, sometimes these sting and make us very uncomfortable, but it’s only against our temporal bodies.
Overcoming the world occurs when we see by faith that Jesus Christ is our life, and we need not live in the motivation of the fallen world’s ways any longer. Do you believe your eternal life is your whole identity in Christ? If so, then you are a victorious overcomer of the temporal world—and even over the harsh events that may plague you for a season.
If you would like to see what came from my season of spiritual breaking, read Called To Gobi, and grow with the main character, Andrew Foworthy, as he experiences the eternal overcoming the temporal.
See you in the field!
David Telbat

The COIL books have truly been so helpful to me in that they have caused me to think more about my Christian walk and that has caused me to go deeper into Christ. And the series and other related Talbet books are an encouraging and exciting read!
Hi AliceAnne! PTL that David’s books have stirred you to go deeper with Christ! That’s why he writes what he writes. He’ll be very pleased to read your feedback.
