Dear Friends, this is David Telbat. I pray you are having a safe and enjoyable weekend. We remember those who have given their lives for our freedom. For this Author Reflection, I have a short allegory for you. We know that a journey is best enjoyed with company. My COIL and Steadfast books would be very dull if the heroes never interacted with other people. And if those heroes didn’t have the Spirit of God in their lives, they would have no meaningful purpose. In a society that is becoming increasingly busy and lonely, we desperately need God to accompany us in our life’s journey. I hope this little allegory will remind us about the Company we now have.
God’s Invitation to come up the Mountain
We are born into a frantic existence. At times, it seems like survival is all we’re meant for. It is as if we’re circling a giant proverbial mountain, where spiritual life exists, but we can’t figure out how to climb up. The way we initially live our lives without God, we merely wander around this mountain. Circling it is endless. Though the scenery changes a little, there is no great advancement in life since we are limited to the plains at the foot of the mountain.
Then the Bible comes to us. We are confused at first by the Bible’s message, since it seems to contradict with the circling of the mountain in which all of society seems to be involved. But within the pages of the Bible we find that life is not about circling the unreachable, but rather seeking the Eternal. The Bible is God’s invitation to come up the mountain!
Exploring His Promises
We receive the invitation to come up the mountain by faith, and God immediately invests Himself in our journey. He seals us with His Holy Spirit (signifying permanence and possession), as an advance gift (Ephesians 1:14) to offer us a taste of our destination. Ultimately, the fullness of God’s company is our eternal prize, yet He is already with us for the trip!
How exciting it is to explore the promise of God’s company through this life! Without Him, our hope in circling the mountain would be so fleeting in this world. I pray you are continuously drawn to the gracious invitation God has offered to all of us, and His unconditional companionship He provides to those who believe. With God beside us, we are not alone.
See you on the next page!
NOTE-2: With more and more D.I. Telbat books coming out, I’m hearing from reader friends that it is becoming more confusing to know which books to read first or next. Well, we want to help you with that! A little while back, we created a free PDF of an ordered list of all DIT books. It has a list of all his books, along with a suggested reading order. Please download this FREE PDF. (It is now available on our website homepage as well.) We pray it will help you. Thanks for reading! 🙂
