Status Report on the Persecuted Church in Colombia
Report filed by: Carlos Valdez
After eight months, I believe I am closer to finding my brother, Luis Valdez, or at least his body.
He was aboard the plane that was airdropping Bibles and Christian literature into Colombia’s FARC controlled region. The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia shot the plane down.
Miraculously, the pilot, a Canadian named James Kaplan, escaped uninjured. He hiked to the nearest village to tell authorities that my brother was still at the wreck site with a broken leg. When I arrived at the downed plane with emergency services, Luis was gone.
Please pray for Luis. If he is dead, pray his death in Christ will touch his persecutors. And if he is alive, pray that his faith in Christ will impress his captors, and they will let him go, or that we will find him.
I will be making airdrops with James Kaplan to continue my brother’s work. God’s message must be spread. If you know anything about my brother’s status from contacts in Columbia, please let me know.
