Dear reading friends, the COIL Prequel, Dark Edge, is NOW loosed—for FREE at most retailers! Many of you have already read the other COIL novels. We now journey into COIL’s past to discover Corban Dowler in his early Christian life. And we find a story of redemption.
You don’t have to read much of Dark Edge to realize Corban Dowler is up to his neck in the sins of his past. We learn that he spent many years during which he lived and practiced evil deeds. He was dark and moody, a miserable murderer.
For those of us who have come to Christ, we also had a history of sin against God that had to be dealt with. Maybe like some of you, there are pages I’d rather were torn out of my life story. I know well the miseries of wickedness and rebellion—and the consequences of selfish ungodly living.
But when Christ deals with Corban’s heart, Corban doesn’t go into hiding, as many of us might be tempted to do. Instead, he takes responsibility and uses his years of experience in the CIA to serve Christ. Corban has come to Christ, but he doesn’t try to fix his past evils; rather, he trusts God and begins to live in repentance and faith immediately.
God doesn’t intend His people to fix their sins—because we can’t wash away that invincible decay. Rather, we die to our old nature, and leave the past at the foot of the cross. Faith and repentance go hand in hand in the new life, and it’s Christ who holds us up.
Safety and Rescue
In The COIL Series, we’ve come to know that Corban Dowler is the foreign Christian’s salvation when in need of safety and rescue. In this sense, he’s a type of Christ. Corban’s traits of confidence, trustworthiness, and unfailing determination are introduced in Dark Edge as well, when God calls him into the potentially dangerous mission field of India.
Though this novella is a Christian spy thriller, and has various biblical themes embedded in its pages, it’s ultimately a story of redemption. And as Corban, we each have need for God’s mercy and grace upon our lives; for His safety and rescue.
I pray you enjoy Dark Edge. As always, I look forward to hearing your feedback. Please send your comments to us or leave them wherever you download your eBook. Thank you for reading!
