Happy Thanksgiving, Reader Friends! Thank you for joining us for the fifth and last in “5 Challenges that will Change your Life.” Christian Author David Telbat has shared four ways to improve our lives by developing a servant’s attitude for God. In David’s action novels, his Christian characters are defined by men and women with this attitude. And what better way to show the Lord our gratitude to Him this Thanksgiving week, than to encourage others in His Name?
Where I Stop, You Begin
Though we’ve reached the end of this short series, there are many other ways to step out in faith and exercise our Christian character.
We began this series with the challenge to write someone we wouldn’t otherwise write. Next, we considered visiting people we usually don’t stop to meet. Then, we examined the change that would come about when we pray for others, and last time, I challenged you to travel out of your way to meet those who need to hear our encouragement and message of truth. Now, for Challenge #5–
Challenge 5 – Appreciating others
This is another challenge I implemented with the men in my prison ministry. No matter what disagreements we may have with our brother-man (or sister), if a person gets a note that says, “Hey, I appreciate you regardless of our differences…”—both lives will change.
Approaching friends and foes alike with this attitude, can turn foes into friends, and strengthen friendships, as well. That foe will usually stop talking behind my back. Why? Because I’ve taken the lead to let him know that we’re on the same side.
A couple of men at my church do this with me every week. We even discuss who needs encouragement that week—”Who can we encourage for the Lord, today?” Then, a couple times a week, I commit to write a note to those particular people, someone different every week.
If you exercise your ability to encourage others to live life to their potential in Christ, you will impact lives—and your life will change in ways you cannot imagine!
See you in the field!
