Middle East Revolution Part III – The True Definition of Freedom
Christian Fiction Author David Telbat concludes his Author Reflections and brief analysis of the Middle East protests and freedom activities. Last week in the Middle East Revolution Part II, we talked about the World’s Definition of Freedom.
The True Definition of Freedom
Freedom may be defined as the opposite of bondage. This is found only in Jesus Christ.
The sinful world does not fight for the freedom and rights for Christ’s people, so we must not be confused about the outcome of these revolutions in the Middle East. If the outcome of the revolutions were positive for Christ’s followers, then Satan would be fighting against himself.
Christians in America can play a special role in the Middle East conflicts, instead of cheering for Islamic freedoms so people can worship Allah in their more unrestrained fashion. (“Freedom” in Islam refers to the right to practice their faith without restraint.)
- First, we in America can pray for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ in these lands. As stated in Part II of this series, Christians in Egypt and other revolting countries are fair game for extremists as chaos ensues.
- Second, we can act, or mobilize, in a few different ways. We can raise awareness by speaking the truth of what is really going on in the Middle East. We should remind our fellow believers that though none of these freedom fighters intend to assist Christ’s mission, God Almighty is still in control!
- We can also travel to the Middle East to become better informed, first-hand, of the conditions of the family of God over there. Seek God’s direction as you consider ways to encourage our Middle Eastern brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as missionaries already in the field, who continue to risk everything year after year.
- Finally, we can financially support the ministries and organizations already active in restrictive Middle Eastern countries, no matter the political climate.
Victory in Jesus is not dependent on revolution or worldly definitions of freedom.
See you in the field!
