Dear Reading Friends, this is David Telbat. Thanks for joining me for “Loyalty in Distant Front,” another peek into Book Two of The COIL Legacy. In the midst of tragedy, our loyalty to God is often tested. In Distant Front, this test of loyalty is contrasted in the lives of two characters. One relies on human means for hope—and falls deeper into despair. The other relies on God’s intentions through the hardship, and he finds joy even in his difficulties. Which person do you most relate to?
Triumph Through Reliance
As Christian ideals are attacked throughout America and abroad, none of us can claim to be unaffected by an agenda of darkness. While politicians and whole governments debate over how they are the answer to mankind’s problems, God’s people need to cling to God as our first and final remedy.
In Distant Front, two kidnapped Christians couldn’t be more different in their approaches to their situations. One of them is weak in the faith, and relies on memories of better times, and hopes in a change of circumstance. The other is strong as he relies on God Himself, and anticipates God’s message regardless of the circumstances. To this second person of faith, God responds. Our own circumstances in the world may not brighten, but our loyalty binds us to the One who triumphs over the world.
A Lesson in Faith
If you are in the midst of personal oppression or troubled by the international strife that screams for our attention—I urge you to read Distant Front. It’s a story of faith and loyalty in the very jaws of terror and persecution. And yet love and forgiveness still emerge. How? Our God is a worker of miracles. That isn’t fiction; God really does draw near to us as we draw near to Him.
I can’t think of a more important message for my own life than to be reminded again and again that mankind in the world—even myself—is not the answer to my yearning soul. We need more of God Himself, and His love will touch others around us because of His work within us.
Let us remain loyal to Him in these last days.
See you in the field!
