The Key To Everything
by Norman Grubb
Book Review by D.I. Telbat
Genre: Christian Living
Once in a while, I come across a book that packages biblical truth in a profound yet basic way. The Key to Everything seems far-reaching, maybe even mystical, but author and missionary Norman Grubb delivers with simplicity and practicality.

You Are a Container
The first chapter dives into the subject of the Christian’s life as a vessel that God has created. Will we fight this purpose, or enjoy living for what we were designed? Grubb says, “You are His means of expressing Himself.”
My favorite chapter was Chapter Two: “You Simply Receive.” Grubb pulls no punches as he lays out our old nature’s desire to earn grace, though God wants us to simply receive His grace. He says, “This is where we fail. We make activity substitute for receptivity.”
This short book written by a missionary in Africa in the 1960s seems to boast a tall title, but this no-nonsense approach to the divine life corrected my thinking several times. Grubb doesn’t only teach the truth, he also shares personal discoveries from years on the mission field.
Norman Grubb has written several other short books you can read in an hour or two, but his teachings will stay with you for years to come. This book about living as a container is my favorite of his works, though his other books disclose more of his African ministry.
This book of four chapters is a 5-star read. Enjoy. Trust God to make His truth real in your maturing life, rather than seek your own self-improvement, which Grubb wisely says is “both a sin and an impossibility.” So let God express Himself through you today. He is the key to your everything!
