Author Reflections – High Pressure, Low Pressure, God’s Pressure
“When a fluid is compressed, the internal energy it possesses per unit volume by virtue of the motions of its constituent atoms, and which determines its temperature, is increased.” – Butterworth-Heinemann, Ocean Circulation, 2nd ed., 2004
Hi Reader Friends! Right now, for novel research, I’m reading an oceanography textbook on ocean circulation. Because of such complex explanations like the one above, after two weeks, I’m only in chapter two of The Atmosphere and the Ocean. It wasn’t until I took time to really analyze the above physics principle, that I grasped a parallel spiritual application.
The COIL novel series–Dark Liaison, Dark Hearted, Dark Rule, and Dark Vessel—all have a central theme: the rescue of persecuted Christians. In my books, and in the real world, the persecution of God’s people nearly always heightens their dedication to God as they turn to Him for strength to endure difficulties.
The atoms in the atmosphere of a high-pressure gradient are no different. When the pressure is on, the air or water in the air heats up. When the pressure is off (a low-pressure system), the air and water in the air cools off.
So the next time you’re feeling the pressures of the world squeezing your faith and conviction, just remember that pressure equals warmth. Are you feeling pressure? God’s just trying to turn you on fire for Him!
See you in the field!
