Thanks Friends, for joining us for a look into my two upcoming novels in, “God’s Protective Hand in New Series, The Leeward Set.” I’m excited to share these two exhilarating stories of real-life situations involving persecution in North Korea, and child soldiers in Africa and Asia. Are you ready for the adventure? (Please see important news after this post.)
Behind “The Leeward Set” Series Name
Titling books, naming series, and designing book covers never gets any easier, no matter how long a writer has been scribbling words. In writing workshops, I warn aspiring authors that writing a book’s first draft is the easy part. Then begins all the difficult decisions, revisions, and editing. The series name for Fury in the Storm and Tears in the Wind was no exception.
However, when we looked at the storyline objectively, we saw two overall themes that tied the two books together: stormy situations and God’s protective hand. Thus, “The Leeward Set” was chosen.
The word “leeward” is a nautical term that refers to the downwind side of a landmass or ship, or the direction which is away from the blowing wind. For instance, the leeward side of a ship is the side protected and sheltered from the wind as the wind blows toward the ship. The leeward side is the side of calmer waters.
Protected in Storms
It would be impossible for Christians to serve Jesus wholeheartedly if we didn’t have the promise of God’s protective hand throughout the ensuing storms. We will suffer in this dark world when we serve the Lord, but we are still in His hand. Our eternal position and everlasting destination is secure because of our Savior’s finished work on the cross.
The wind may blow and storms may rage in our lives—spiritually or literally—but we have the protective “waters” of God’s arms in which to shelter. We have only to look away from the wind and sea, peer keenly into the loving face of Jesus Christ, and we discover that He holds us on the leeward side. We are sheltered. We are protected.
The Leeward Set Series contains hardship and difficulties through which God’s people must endure. As they find the only calm waters that exist—in God’s will—I pray we will be inspired to do the same today, through our own storms in life. God’s promises do not fail!

NOTE-1: To allow you to move directly from one book to the next, we plan to have both Fury in the Storm and Tears in the Wind published as close together as possible. Watch our Fury page or our Novel News page for when to expect the books to be out. As soon as our proofreaders say Tears is ready, it will follow shortly after Fury.
NOTE-2: IMPORTANT! Some of you may know that Fury in the Storm was first published under another title, Sea Scribe. The story has remained the same, even though it has received a new title, new cover, a few tweaks inside, and a new sequel. Because some of you have already read this exciting story under its previous title, we’ve decided to make this new version available for FREE for a LIMITED TIME from AMAZON! We’ll know soon as to which five days it will be available for FREE so watch our Sales & Discounts Page for the news! And please share with your friends!
NOTE-3: Some of you may not have a Kindle, but since some of David’s books are being published exclusively (for now) on Amazon, you may want to get a Kindle e-reader APP for your iPhone or iPad. Here are instructions on “How to make your iphone or ipad work like a Kindle e-reader!”
Prayer Prompt: Be sure to check out the new website of Vision Beyond Borders (VBB)! These prayer requests were in a recent newsletter:
1) VBB was able to send two 40-foot humanitarian aid containers to the Middle East for refugees. However, restrictions at the borders are very tight and officials are increasing stipulations on materials. Please pray all supplies will make it across and be put in the hands of the refugees.
2) Government restrictions on underground churches in China are increasing. Please pray for the faith and encouragement of believers as they face these trials.
3) Due to strict government control of a closed Central American country, new clothes and fabrics are scarce. National pastors in the VBB sponsorship program are requesting 2,000 sewing machines because of the dire need to refurbish old materials. If you would like to donate a sewing machine, donations can be sent to PO Box 2635, Casper, WY 82602. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus!
