Welcome Reader Friends! Today, David Telbat shares with us fictional letters written to the COIL Organization by fictional persecuted believers in Nigeria and Yemen. These represent real situations. Please be praying for our suffering brothers and sisters in these countries.
Letter to COIL from the Persecuted Church in Nigeria
Dear Christian Friends,
It is possible I am the only Christian left alive in my village in Kano, Nigeria. Thousands have been killed. The few who had Bibles died clutching them or praying. Many have fled to other regions of Nigeria, carrying only what they could hold in their arms or balance on their heads. I think America knows nothing of this conflict.
It is a sad day under Sharia Law here where Muslim mobs attacked my Christian brothers and sisters in their homes. It won’t be long now until I join the dead. Perhaps smuggling this letter to a Christian in Cameroon will lead to my own death.
Please consider the thousands in northern Nigeria who will never hear of Jesus since many thousands of Christians have been killed or have fled. Will you please sponsor Nigerian believers in the south to come to the north to teach about Jesus? I will carefully look for people who may want to seek their Savior, but doing this will eventually lead to my death, and then there may be no Christians left here at all.
Please do not write me back. It is too dangerous.

Letter to COIL from the Persecuted Church in Yemen
Dear COIL Christians,
My name is Ali. My companions and I belong to a small house church in Hodeida City where we live as secret Christians. We must be cautious since we have all converted from Islam, which is a state crime.
But four times a year, we gather in other cities to hand out tracts and share Christ with unbelievers. We have all been arrested for smuggling Bibles or teaching about Jesus. We were fined and released after a beating, but it does not stop us. The Yemeni security forces arrested my companions recently, and I ask that you pray for them and all believers in Yemen.
We have heard that being an active Christian in America is not as difficult right now as it is for us, so we ask that you take this time of ease to lift us up in prayer. While I have a home and family in secret, some believers are fugitives from the law.
Please pray for us.
Ali from Yemen
