Greetings, Reader Friends! Today we have David’s fictional COIL Op reports on two Persecuted Churches—Somalia and Pakistan. (Don’t know what COIL is? It stands for “Commission of International Laborers,” which is a team of Christian rescuers in The COIL Series. Click the link to read more about COIL.) Now to the stories. (You might even recognize some of these characters!)
Debriefing Report for the Persecuted Church in Somalia
Debriefing/report filed by: Agent Lyle McCormack
Subject: Agent Sven Madrovich
Code Name: Russia
Operation: Rebirth Lima
Sven (Russia) Madrovich recently led Team Zayin into Somalia to support the Christian Underground in the city of Merca. Merca is where two Christians were shot and killed by a Muslim extremist group. Russia and Vratis (Czeck) Ujfalusi visited and prayed with four house churches in the week they were there.
Ruben (Rube) Lopez ran interference for the churches, drawing persecutors to false locations in the city where supposed gatherings were being held. Twice, Ruben barely escaped with his life.
Russia said the response from believers was remarkable as well as heartbreaking, for they have very little contact with believers outside their underground circles—and even less support. They live in danger from extremists daily, as well as from city officials. Recent wars and conflict also hurt the poor in this area.
Pray for strength for these committed believers. We need to send or sponsor another group of this sort again as soon as possible.
Fictional Report of Action Pack Op in Pakistan
Debriefing/report filed by: Agent Heather Kooper
Subject: Agent Clifford Lavers
Code Name: Bumpy
Operation: AP Give-away Delta
Clifford Lavers was debriefed this morning before our flight out of Pakistan. He, his brother Bruce (Shark) Lavers, and I spent the last week handing out VOM Action Packs to refugees. The refugees are mostly Christians who’ve been recently assaulted and/or left homeless by Taliban soldiers.
When the Packs of miscellaneous items (clothes, towels, hygiene, blankets) were all dispersed to the believers in need, we spent the last couple of days applying what limited medical knowledge we had to help the many injured. A couple of other disaster relief organizations were around too, but we were all overwhelmed.
Pakistani tribes people who heard we were in the area, traveled from afar for an Action Pack, medical treatment, or just a kind word.
Bruce speaks a little Urdu, so he was able to communicate with a few. He suggested we remind supporters on the COIL blog about VOM’s Action Packs, and tell how they can help and/or get personally involved.
NOTE: Thanks Ann, “KindleCustomer,” and John B for your encouraging comments on Called To Gobi! We’re so thankful that readers are finding the book so meaningful. Praise the Lord that David was able to accomplish that which he set out to do: to bring honor and glory to God.
NOTE: David Telbat’s short stories are often picked up by different Twitter newspapers. This week, David’s story “The Feeding of the Forty” was included in “Christian News Today.” Click the link to enjoy it there (under “Leisure”).
NOTE: Because we’ve just scaled back to once a week on our posting schedule, there may be occasional news that you want to know sooner than the following Monday. I’ll begin leaving the latest news updates at the top of our Novel News Page. It’ll be titled, “Latest Updates” then you can learn the latest news as quickly as it’s available. If there’s a new novel, a new audio, or a price change (like with The Legend of Okeanos), you can find out in our “Latest Updates” section on our Novel News Page. I hope this is helpful to you.
COMING UP: Join us next MONDAY for Part I in David’s Author Reflection Series, “COIL Confidence.” Don’t miss the examples of Christian confidence in the modern lives of COIL characters.
