Happy New Year, Reader Friends! This is David Telbat with encouragement for 2015 by showing how we can expose the battlefield–the spiritual battlefield! I know I’m not alone in the Christian fight. Many of you are certainly under your own pressures of spiritual attacks or temptation meant to tear you down. Because God is limiting what burdens us (I Cor 10:13), we understand what Satan means for evil, God uses for good. Praise the Lord!
Are you in the Dark?
One of the most exciting parts for me in writing for a mass audience is exposing the spiritual battles we all go through in real life. Our battlefield isn’t unique. Some have said that Satan’s weapons are not many, but they are sharp. And one of Satan’s schemes is to keep us all in the dark, alone and depressed. Satan knows as soon as his victims take their issues to the Light, he is defeated.
Sin produces shame and guilt—as it should—but God doesn’t intend His people to remain in that dark place. God is called Light in the Bible because He is pure, with nothing hidden. You want to defeat Satan? Of course you do! Confess and repent openly to God Almighty the things that cause you to sin and stumble. You want to reside at peace in Christ? Praise Him that He allows us to come openly to Him with our sin.
We are Not Ignorant
Darkness refers to sin, blindness, ignorance, and even denial of the consequences of sin. Light refers to being informed and on guard against sin and its consequences for the sake of Christ.
The characters in the COIL Series and my other novels discuss their failings and struggles with one another and with God. It’s because God’s people are constantly to bring to the Light that which is darkness—in confession and repentance. Christians aren’t meant to reside in that darkness day after day.
Be encouraged, and use spiritual oppression as God intends it to be used—to move you further into His Light! What better way to start this New Year than to begin with a clean, clear conscience!
See you in the Light!
