Hello Reader Friends! We’re so glad you’ve joined us! Today, David first has a short story, “End Times Reminder-Vietnam”, and then his author reflection below. Be sure to read our update after the post.
End Times Reminder-Vietnam
by D.I. Telbat, based on true events
Vinh huddled with his family of four in his arms as the other villagers walked past him. In their hands were his own family’s possessions: heirlooms, tools, even clothes. The villagers were his own neighbors, people he had known since birth. Now, they hated him, his wife, and his children.
His youngest child squeezed his hand, and Vinh looked down at her. She’d seen the men beat him just minutes earlier, and she had cried the most. But now she was the one who comforted him the most, her faith simple and pure.
“It’s just stuff, Papa. We can live in the jungle.”
He smiled through his battered lips. Yes, it was just stuff. This world wouldn’t last forever. Soon, Jesus was coming back. The Bible had prophesied that He would come the first time, and He did come. Then the Bible said He would come again, so Vinh knew He would. With patience, even through sufferings, they would live in anticipation of the return of their King, who would finally vindicate them.
Author Reflections of D.I. Telbat
Hello, brothers and sisters. The above story is based on a March 2014 report out of Vietnam. How much of our lives, even our faith, is wrapped up in our belongings? Hmong Christians are forced from their villages by their neighbors when they are found to have converted to Christianity. Many walk away with Jesus as their only possession.
As Christ’s return looms ever nearer, the world will mock and hate more passionately. Wrong will be twisted for right, and lies will be embraced as truth. But we must be patient and wait with faithfulness on His Word. Stand together with His people, brothers and sisters, and pray.

NOTE: Open Doors has a challenge for all of us: “Despite the increasing conflict we see intensifying in places like Syria and Egypt, and all over the Middle East, God is at work in a powerful way. Thousands of Muslims are coming to Christ! And when a Muslim is seeking to know about Jesus, the one thing they plead for is a Bible.” You can help provide Bibles at this link!
