Welcome, Reading Friends and New Subscribers! Today we have a D.I. Telbat book review of Fear Has a Name, another favorite Christian Suspense Novel. Enjoy!
Fear Has a Name: The Crittendon Files
Excellently written, Fear Has a Name is as “real” as fiction gets. I’ve never seen a novel tackle so many everyday topics, all while moving the suspense toward a breathless ending. The characters were so life-like, I kept thinking I was reading a journal about the author’s life and family—in the midst of turmoil.
The “fear” element of this story’s title arises when a daring stalker inserts himself into a journalist’s environment. I was impressed by the author’s ability to layer the tension by delaying resolutions to the very end, giving the reader plenty to anticipate as the plot built after I thought it had peaked. The various crises in the characters’ lives were relatable to us all—dealing with doubt and fear in the face of tragedy and struggle, particularly in the family dynamic.
The Christian aspect was believable, naturally flowing from flawed characters as they discover that God’s way is not just something that the Bible talks about, but a way of living by faith. I was particularly touched as the characters wrestle with forgiveness—not too successfully at times. I am honored to read a fellow writer who views Christ’s gracious work for us as the way we are meant to live toward others, even people who are despised by society. Bravo!
Take a deep breath and read this book that won’t only make you smile, but will challenge your own underlying fears—to trust God more simply. I highly recommend this book and give it 5 stars.—D.I. Telbat

Prayer Prompt: Pray for covert ministries such as VOM reaching quietly into NK.
Excerpts from their recent email titled, “Piercing North Korea’s Spiritual Darkness“–
“North Korean Christians hide for discipleship training and spiritual enrichment… studying the Bible underground is a dangerous attempt to grow in Christ.
VOM supports this secret training site, as well as evangelism efforts and the distribution of Bibles and Christian literature in North Korea. We cannot share the details of this work with you without risking the lives of our North Korean coworkers.
Bibles are being smuggled into the highly restricted nation. Christian literature…in print and in electronic formats…equipping them to share the gospel with their countrymen… knowing we’ll never be able to fully report the nature and extent of the work… We invite you to partner with us in this vital, dangerous, secret work.” Read about another VOM NK Project here.
