Dear Reader Friends and New Subscribers, this is David Telbat with an Author Reflection for you today. It is part one of three called, “COIL Confidence, Part I.”
If you struggle with confidence in Jesus Christ, a COIL novel may be just the encouragement you need! Each COIL story is written with the idea that God is a BIG God worthy of the trust of faithful people who are ready to stand for Him. The company you keep identifies the kind of Christian you are. Maybe COIL characters are the right kind of company for you for a night or two? 😉 (Find more about The COIL Series here.)
The World is Intimidating
The world means to intimidate God’s people. If you speak up about sin, society will condemn you. If you offer to share with someone the truth to deliver them from the power of sin, you may be called judgmental. If you stand on moral principles of right and wrong according to God, the media will try to ruin you.
So, how do you stand against such intimidation? In Acts 4, Peter and John were arrested and put on trial for speaking about sin, judgment, and Jesus Christ, whom the rulers had recently killed. Most importantly, the disciples proclaimed that Jesus was God, holy and powerful, and that He’d been raised from the dead.
Peter’s confidence in front of the world was to trust that God is greater than the worst the world could muster to hurt him.
God is Not Intimidated
If you are an ordinary Christian, then you face trying moments, moments in which it would be easier to remain silent than speak simply for Christ. We need the inspiration from the Word of God to live confidently, or the world will tear us down, intimidate us to silence, or embitter us by its ugliness.
The COIL Series, and my other books, approach life with the presupposition that God is worthy of our trust because Christ was raised from the dead. If He can defeat death, He can defeat my day-to-day problems!
Sometimes, to defeat my daily struggles, all God does is open my eyes to the lesson He’s teaching me. I’m aided through my problems by having God’s biblical perspectives toward the Lord.
Find and Follow Examples of Confidence
Are you confident when you’re in the middle of a crisis? Read Acts 4:13. Note also how a little confidence leads to praying for more confidence (Acts 4:29). Confidence in God will shake the world around you!
God has not abandoned you in the trenches. Lean on Him. He is not intimidated. And don’t miss the examples of Christian confidence in the modern lives of COIL characters.
See you on the path!
COMING UP: Next week, we’ll have Part II of “COIL Confidence.” See you then!
