Hi Reader Friends! Today, we have a new Christian short story “Unafraid” by D.I. Telbat. Remember our brothers and sisters in Christ who are suffering for their faith.
by D.I. Telbat
Asli Langat bowed her head and listened to the patter of blood dripping from her brow. Iranian officers could be brutal, especially toward Turkish missionaries, but for now, she was alone in the cell.
Her wound clotted with a little pressure, yet she remained bowed, praying for the Lord to preserve her, as He had been in this newest prison. She knew it was her own fault that she’d been transferred here. Everywhere she went, she shared how God had become the Man, Jesus Christ, and that He’d paid for the sins of the world.
Dozens of women had professed Christ in her wake. Even though Asli received added time to her sentence—and added abuse—each time it was discovered that another woman had become a new convert. But Asli knew she could do no less. Whether she lived in prison or lived on the streets of Tehran, she had one truth to share—by Jesus Christ, God could make the believer a new person.
Asli was unafraid, and she knew this was not normal. She had once been afraid, but after much prayer, God had taught her to be unafraid of her captors, even when they tormented her. In a moment, her Lord could take her home forever. There was no fear in finally standing before her Savior one day. He had saved her from her sins, and because of His shed blood, she would live again.
But Asli had one regret: that she had not memorized more Scripture to share with the other women. That evening, she determined to memorize additional Scripture the next time God provided her with newly smuggled pages of Scripture.
Until then, she would cherish what she already had in memory, and remain unafraid as she shared the only truth that could deliver others from sin and give peace to their souls.
Though Asli Langat was a Turkish missionary in an Iranian prison, she would remain faithful and unafraid until Christ’s return.
