Book Review on Gold of Kings:
A Storm Syrrell Adventure
Gold of Kings is the kind of adventure novel that you can sit and read—and feel like you’ve enjoyed a quest around the world! It has all the elements I look for in a good book: underlying Christian message (not preachy), action that leaves you breathless, and a hint of romance that makes you smile.
But Author Davis Bunn goes beyond these storytelling traits that leaves many authors in the dust. He has extensively researched locations (including scents in the air), and occupations (including insider info), that left me thinking several times, “Oh, so that’s what that city is like!” or, “Okay, now I understand a little more about that kind of work.”
The story itself began straight from the underbelly of greed—a Caribbean prisoner is released from jail early and mysteriously. His name is Harry Bennett, and he’s employed from the first chapter by a ghost from his past—to help Storm Syrrell find the treasure of a thousand lifetimes. An assassin is on the loose as well, and a suspicious aunt is worth keeping your eye on. And I won’t forget to mention betrayal, and secret art deals and artifacts with hidden clues . . . with Israel in the historical spotlight.
I highly recommend Gold of Kings for adventure readers, teens and up. It’s clean, fast-paced, and the violence isn’t overboard at all. As for Davis Bunn’s other novels—I look forward to reading them as well! I give this novel 5 stars.
Prayer Prompt: As our country once again has new leadership, we need to pray for the Holy Spirit to influence each leader’s thoughts, words, and actions. And for ourselves, as Christians, that we might live peaceably and godly amongst our neighbors. (I Tim 2:1, 2)
COMING UP: Join us next time for another new Christian fiction story by D.I. Telbat, “Holy Prompt.” And in the following post, be sure to come back for another view into David’s upcoming STEADFAST Series in “The Unknown Future.”
