Hello Reader Friends and New Subscribers! Thanks for joining us for Part III in my Forgiveness Series. I remember as a rebellious youth, I didn’t look down the road of time to see that my sins would tear open wounds in others that would take a miracle to heal. The truth of my own desperate need of a Savior is why I write so often about redemption and forgiveness. The characters in my adventure novels are representatives of you and me—some with pasts of darkness, but also futures in the Light.
Pasts Measured by Christ
The books I’ve written include characters with many flaws. Even the “good guys” who risk their lives for the sake of others have dark pasts. When we look directly at the holiness of God, every person is forced to look away. Our sins are many, and though we sometimes measure ourselves by others, God measures us against the perfection of His Son, Jesus Christ. We all need to be saved from sin.
Future Profits in the Light
The characters in the COIL Series may have pasts of darkness, but their eyes are now on the life before them. It doesn’t profit a man (or woman) to dwell on the sin he’s already laid at the foot of the cross. (Though there is profit in feeling bad about sin and forsaking it openly.) But it does profit a man—and others involved—to receive the forgiveness proclaimed by Christ, then to live by faith and repentance in a new life of obedience.
The question isn’t if we all came from Adam’s dark origins—my own being darker than many. The question is, how do we now live in the Light? I pray your past has caused you to look to Christ for your future. He is our only hope.
See you on the next page.
NOTE: Our thanks to the men and women who serve!
