Hello, Reader Friends! Christian Author David Telbat here with an Author Reflection. Some of you have read the third book in my COIL Series, Dark Rule, so you now know that the Endnotes in the back of the book focus on the Vision Beyond Borders (VBB) ministry. What a tool of God it is! Today, I’m reflecting on a Vision Beyond Borders newsletter, and I have a challenge for us all.
“I was forced to depend on God daily…”
That’s a line in a recent newsletter from Vision Beyond Borders. We don’t know who said that. Maybe it was too dangerous for the person to be identified.
I usually try to think of some presentation or challenge for you, but after reading this newsletter, I could only think of the needs in the field.
The VBB people are soldiers for the Lord, and by their words, you can tell they love Jesus. This particular newsletter focused on a mission team that went to Northern Thailand to visit refugee camps, with mostly Burmese refugees—tortured lives, families violently ripped apart, disease and . . . faith? Yes, these tormented people are finding comfort in Jesus’ arms!
“Jobs, schedules, and material things…”
I’m also left wondering how many of us Christians in America are being trained in a skill that we can use in some sort of ministry. Sometimes we get caught up in the world just making ends meet, earning our degrees, collecting things . . . (I’m speaking to myself as well). I know many Christians are actively serving, but this is a challenge for the rest of us to step out of our comfort zones.
If you don’t get the VBB newsletter already, subscribe and get inspired! It’s these kinds of servants that I’ve been called to pray for and support through my writing. Will you join me? (I Corinthians 15:58)
See you in the field!
